Hydrometric Network

Hydrometric Network

GENERAL

Hydrometric networks availability remains of great importance for the monitoring and water resource management as well as prevention against droughts and floods. The spatial and temporal density of data collected and analyzed, especially the length of the registration periods, can improve the precision associated with estimates of design flows. Objective of this research can be seen as a decision support tool for users and managers of hydrometric data collection station networks in a context of unprecedented budget cuts, and also when looking to optimize data regarding criteria like record length, quality, and representative spatial location.

Research focus :

  • Rationalization of the New Brunswick hydrometric network
  • Hierarchical classification
  • Principal component analysis
  • Entropy method
  • Homogeneous hydroclimatic regions
