New start for the men’s
hockey team
In its efforts to reinvigorate the men’s
hockey team, the Université de Moncton
hired Jean-François Damphousse as
Director of Hockey Operations.
Mr. Damphousse’s mandate is to recruit
players, develop a strategic plan and
ensure ties with the community.
New Chair of the
Board of Governors
Edith Doucet was elected Chair of
the Board of Governors in December
2016. Her three-year term of office will
expire in September 2019. As a training
educator, Ms. Doucet has held several
positions in New Brunswick’s public
service. A native of New Brunswick, she
has a Bachelor of Education from the
Université de Moncton and a Master’s

Reorganization of services to
ensure strategic management
of the student body
During the 2016-2017 year, management
at the Université de Moncton reorganized
services to ensure a more integrated
strategic management of the student
body. The main element of this reorga-
nization is the creation of a new branch
for strategic student body management
(DGEE) under the Vice-Rectorate for
Education and Research. The DGEE is
responsible for services for recruitment,
admission, scholarships and financial
assistance,as well as services involving
the student experience.The establishment
of a network steering committee for
the strategic planning of student body
management activities and the abolition
of the Vice-Rectorate for Student and
International Affairs are also part of this
reorganization.
Lunch with the VRER
The Vice-President of Academic and
Research (VPAR), André Samson,
invited students and faculty to join
him on several occasions to talk
informally in the casual atmosphere
of the Le 63 resto lounge. The lunches
took place from September to
November 2016.
The Academic Senate
thanks Gérard Snow
In May 2016, after 16 years as president
of the assembly of the Academic
Senate, Gérard Snow has passed the
torch to his successor. Mr. Snow led
the proceedings brilliantly, maintained
order and decorum, and spoke on more
than one occasion on thorny procedural
issues. As a respected expert, he has
always found the right words to move
academic records forward. The members
of the Academic Senate are very grateful
to him for his commitment.
