An economic impact study carried
out by economists Maurice Beaudin,
Pierre-Marcel Desjardins and André
Leclerc shows that the Université de
Moncton contributes substantially to the
growth of New Brunswick and Canada.
According to this study, the Université
de Moncton contributes more than
$1.6 billion to the growth of New
Brunswick and Canada. In 2015, it
generated more than $466 million in
annual sales for the province and more
than $237 million across the country.
The contribution of graduates of the
Université de Moncton’s undergraduate
and graduate programs working in
New Brunswick is estimated at nearly
$900 million for the same year.
The Université de Moncton has
generated at least 2770 full-time
equivalent jobs in the province and
approximately 935 full-time equivalent
jobs elsewhere in the country. In terms
of research, the economic impact of
the Université de Moncton reached
$11 million in 2015, an average of
$30,000 per professor. This performance
translates into a significant contribution
to the advancement of knowledge. The
faculty of the Université de Moncton
publishes over 400 scientific articles
every year.
According to Moncton Mayor Dawn
Arnold, the Université de Moncton’s
contribution is inseparable from the
effervescence of the Moncton region
in recent years. “The Université de
Moncton is a major employer and
a leading economic partner.”
