Test de Français International (TFI)

Evaluate your French language skills with the Test de Français International (TFI)

The Centre international d'apprentissage du français (CIAF) is accredited with ETS Canada to administer the Test de Français International (TFI). This test is designed to evaluate French language skills. The TFI test evaluates and certifies the ability of non francophone persons to utilize French in a professional and international context. It is a standardized test with reliable scores, regardless of the test version which is chosen. The TFI measures competency in French according to a continuous scale of scores and is designed to evaluate all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. All professional and socio-professional categories are also covered.

The TFI test has 180 multiple choice questions. One section evaluates oral comprehension while the second half evaluates written comprehension. The two sections are divided into six parts, all of which are preceded by specific instructions in French. A TFI session lasts approximately two and a half hours. This includes administrative formalities.
