1. Do special conditions apply when registering for this program?

Participants must be staff members of a municipality that is an AMANB member. No other special conditions apply.

 

2. Do I have to be in a management position to participate?

The program is also open to individuals who aspire to a management position in AMANB member municipalities. 

 

3. What is the registration fee, and what is included?

Each workshop registration fee is different; check the program schedule for more information. These fees include teaching materials. Health breaks are included with in-person workshop.

 

4. Will I receive a certification for completing this program?

The Continuing Education will award participants a certificate of achievement for every workshop taken as well as for the entire program provided that the requirements are met. This program awards Continuing Education Units (CEU’s): one unit after every 10 hours of training. For more information, please see the Quality Assurance section.

By completing the program, you will also receive the Level 1 Basic Professional Certification in Local Government Administration from the AMANB.

 

5. Will I get university credits for this program?

This program does not award university credits however, a certificate of achievement will be awarded.

 

6. Is it necessary to complete all the workshops in order to receive the certification?

You must complete 12 out of 17 program workshops in order to be certified through this program. In addition, from these twelve workshops, you must choose three workshops per block. You will also receive a certificate for every completed workshop.

 

7. Does this program require participants to write exams or hand in assignments?

Participants are not required to write exams for this program. However, some activities may be required outside of training hours.

 

8. Can I register for specific workshops in this program?

Yes, and you will receive a certificate of achievement for this workshop.

 

9. Can I send a substitute person to a workshop for which I am already registered?

Yes, a staff member from the same municipality is accepted as a substitute for your registration. Please inform the Continuing Education at least 3 days prior to the workshop at perfectionnementprofessionnel@umoncton.ca

 

10. Is there a minimum number of participants required for a workshop to be held?

Yes, we need a sufficient number of registrations to confirm a workshop. The minimum number of registrations will vary depending on the workshop.

 

11. Is there a maximum number of participants per workshop?

Yes, the maximum number of participants per group is usually 25, but this number may vary.

 

12. Do I have to take a workshop that I have done in the past?

Upon request, an exemption for a maximum of 2 modules could be granted, except for the mandatory modules. All requests must be accompanied by a proof that you have recently completed the training. The decision whether or not to grant the exemption is made by Continuing Education.

 

13. What is the deadline to register for a workshop?

You must be registered for a workshop at least one week prior to the starting date.

 

14. What is the refund policy?

Requests to withdraw from a workshop need to be submitted by email to perfectionnementprofessionnel@umoncton.ca. If you withdraw (or cancel your registration) prior to the 14 business days prior to the starting date of the workshop in question, no cancellation fees are applicable. For withdrawals, less than 14 days before the workshop starting date, and up to 8 days prior to the starting workshop date, 50% of the registration fee will be charged. After this time (7 days or less before the starting date of the workshop), the full registration fee will be required.

If you are unable to attend a workshop for which you are registered, you may be replaced by another person from your municipality provided that written notice is sent at least 3 business days before the starting date of the workshop. The Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel any workshop if the minimum number of participants is not met. In this event, the registration fee will be refunded in full.

 

15. Can a workshop be cancelled?

The Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel a workshop if the minimum number of registrations has not been reached, in which case the registration fee will be fully refunded to the registered participant.
