Introduction to Project Management
Registration for upcoming sessions is now open on the fc.umoncton.ca website.
This workshop will allow you to gain essential skills based on project management best practices in order to help you plan and manage projects of any size. First, you will be presented with an outline of the key project management concepts. The critical role and skills required for a project manager will be described.
The project management processes will then be mapped out through the evolution of a project; the specific actions required, and the documents that need to be prepared at each step will be outlined through easy to follow processes.
You will also be introduced to the use of software tools to support your project management process. If you are interested in receiving solid basic knowledge in applying project management best practices, this training is for you.
Goals:
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- understand the fundamentals of project management;
- use the 5 PMBOK® project process groups and 10 areas of knowledge;
- apply project management best practices;
- use tools to succeed in your projects;
- manage your projects in a dynamic and integrated manner.

Ian Drapeau is a certified project management professional from the Project Management Institute (PMI). He has been managing projects for more than 10 years using the proven PMI processes. He has worked in the private, manufacturing, and government sectors, and is the founder of numerous companies. Ian has extensive experience in project management, risk management, systems integration, and technology.
