Université de Moncton students distinguish themselves
in various ways during the course of their studies. Listed
below are some of their achievements between July 2012
and the end of June 2013.
The Université de Moncton hosted the 2013 edition of the
BiochGames. More than 250 participants from the Université
de Montréal, the Université du Québec à Montréal, the
Université Laval, the Université de Sherbrooke, McGill
University, the Université de Moncton and St. Francis Xavier
University took part in the sports, artistic and academic
competitions held at the Moncton campus. The Université de
Moncton delegation fared well; it won the Université à marier
award, the personality-of-the-year award (
Martin Chiasson
,
a 4
th
-year B.Sc. student specializing in physics) and the photo
rally award. The Université finished in third place overall.
Pierre Lyons
, a faculty of science student, finished 2
nd
in
the scientific poster presentation competition.
Each year, the Department of Education and Early
Childhood Development awards five Queen Elizabeth II
bursaries of $1,000 each to students registered in education
programs. The bursaries for 2012-2013 were awarded
to the following education students:

from Moncton, B.A.-B.Ed. (major in geography),
Moncton campus;
Michèle Hébert
, from Edmundston,
B.Sc.-B.Ed, (concentration in mathematics), Moncton
campus;
Phémie Maillet
, from Bathurst, B.A.-B.Ed
(elementary), Shippagan campus;
Karine Noël
, from
Pointe-à-Tom, B.A.-B.Ed (elementary), Shippagan campus
and
Simon St-Onge
, from Edmundston, B.A.-B.Ed (major
in history), Edmundston campus.
The Canadian Institute for Research on Public Policy and
Public Administration (CIPPPA) awarded two bursaries of
$4,000 each to
Eric Thomas
and
Valérie Morin
, master
in public administration students, for their contribution
to various research projects throughout the year.
Chantal Gagné
, a master in public administration student,
was awarded the Donald-J.-Savoie scholarship for 2012-2013.
This $5,000 scholarship is awarded to the student with the
highest average upon admission to the master in public
administration program.
Isabelle LeBlanc
, a language sciences doctoral student,
has been elected for a three-year mandate to represent
graduate students on the board of the Association for
Feminist Anthropology (AFA). She is the first student from a
francophone minority community to have been elected to the AFA.
A delegation of 81 business administration students
participated in the 25
th
edition of the Jeux du commerce
held at HEC Montréal. The university team of entrepreneurs,
Marie-Pier Mazerolle
,
Stéphane LeBlanc
and
Alex
Normandeau
, fared well by placing 2
nd
. This is the first
award since 2004 for the Université de Moncton. Each year,
13 Canadian universities come together to compete in
the Jeux du commerce.
