Leadership, Teamwork and Communication

Leadership, Teamwork and Communication

*Mandatory Workshop

Recent upheavals across the world are forcing major changes in the way we function as a society. The modern leader/manager must be positioned at the forefront of any movement leading to change or evolution within her or his team according to this new reality. This workshop will allow you to get better acquainted with yourself and adopt new behaviours in order to become even more efficient in your interventions as a leader.

As leader/manager of a municipality, you are constantly called upon to interact with others, be it with a colleague, a senior executive, a member of the public, an elected official or a private sector representative.

We must, now more than ever before, recognize and accept the interrelation and interdependence of the four elements of human efficiency, particularly in the labour market: communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving/decision-making. It is important for any modern leader or manager to know how to navigate these four elements on a daily basis.

This workshop will be offered in three virtual sessions. In the first session, we will attempt to answer the question “Who are you?” to further clarify your management style. We will also discuss the role and techniques of effective communication. During the second session, we will concentrate on the leadership and team work elements. The final session will focus on problem-solving and decision-making, and we will conclude with a summary of these four elements.

Goals:

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • analyse your personality based on your role as a leader/manager and gain a better understanding of your team members;
  • adapt your communication style;
  • understand the difference between your role as a manager and as a leader;
  • effectively use team work techniques; and
  • apply problem-solving strategies by making decisions.
