Nowadays, cybersecurity is a challenge and a reality in daily municipal management. We are increasingly hearing about ransomware, computer viruses, and fraudulent emails. Is your local government ready to face these new challenges? Are your employees part of the problem, or the solution? By the end of this training, you will have become aware of the potential dangers for municipalities as well as the best ways to resolve cybersecurity issues. 

Goals: 

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to: 

  • understand the issues and new challenges surrounding cybersecurity in a municipal context; 
  • understand the key components of cybersecurity problems in the workplace; 
    • Passwords; 
    • Malware; 
    • Ransomware; 
    • Phishing techniques; 
    • Internet of Things. 
  • find new tools to learn how to protect yourself; 
  • understand the importance of creating a daily cybersecurity management plan in the workplace; 
  • find leads to available online training and resources for municipal employees.

Trainer: Roberto Gauvin 

Roberto Gauvin has worked in education for almost 32 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the Université de Moncton as well as a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Manitoba. His career in education began in 1988 teaching French immersion in the Saint John area, followed by a position as a science teacher and vice principal in Manitoba. In 2000, Roberto returned to his province to manage the Centre d’apprentissage du Haut-Madawaska (CAHM) until June 2018. He then became an Education Specialist for CyberNB. 

Roberto is currently an education consultant at Édunovis. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and distinctions, namely the “Teacher of the Year” award presented to him in 2018 by the 'Association des enseignants et des enseignantes francophones du Nouveau Brunswick' (AEFNB). Through the years, Roberto led the CAHM team in several innovative projects supporting youth learning. The school was recognized in the Francophone education world for its successful innovations and strategies allowing to “see education in a new way”.
