Introduction to Emergency Measures: Creating an Efficient Emergency Response Plan
Many city managers play a key role in the workings of emergency operations centres nowadays. This training will allow you to gain a wealth of basic knowledge that will serve as a starting point for efficient planning and emergency operations in your municipality and region.
Goals:
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to understand:
- the theoretical basics of the emergency measures planning process;
- the components of an emergency measures management program;
- the roles and responsibilities of the various levels of government during an emergency;
- the components of a local declaration of emergency; and
- the management, command, control, and coordination positions necessary in emergency response.
Facilitator: Roger Pitre
Roger Pitre has been a first responder for more than 25 years. He is currently the manager and coordinator of regional emergency management at the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization. Roger has been chief firefighter and volunteer at the Rogersville Fire Department since 1995. He is also a certified instructor in firefighting and emergency measures.
