Specific objectives of the Chair

The research program is designed to broaden our understanding of the reactions to stigma-related adversity, and to explore how these responses transform individuals and their social environment. These issues are examined in light of three different populations, each faced with unique challenges within academia and the labour force.

  1. Persons with disabilities negotiating access to the workplace
  2. Women managing adversity in non-traditional fields
  3. First Nation youths building resilience to improve educational outcomes

Research is currently funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (Atlantic Aboriginal Health Research Program), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Consortium nationale de formation en santé and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation.
