The resumption of the regular schedule in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey provides for two weekend games for l'Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (6-10-0-0=12pts, 6th position) on Friday and Saturday.

Marc-André Côté's team will be in Fredericton on Friday to face the St. Thomas University Tommies (5-10-1-0=11pts,7th position). On Saturday, the Blue and Gold will host the Saint Mary's University Huskies (10-5-1-0=21pts, 3rd place) at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Moncton won its last four games before the holiday break to climb in the standings. The Tommies lost their last 6 games and the Huskies have won their last duel. Moncton blanked the Tommies 5-0 on Nov. 23. The Aigles intend to continue their momentum and pursue their ascent in the standings.

“It's a new year that begins and each team will come out with its best,” said coach Marc-André Côté. “It will therefore be important for us to always be ready for each important game. We have resumed training and the staff is happy with the physical condition of the players. They kept in good shape and are giving double efforts in the training.”

Moncton plays against two teams of different caliber, but the team enters both games with the same approach. “We finished the 2022 season well and the other teams took note of that,” added the coach. “We want to distance ourselves from the Tommies and get closer to the Huskies in the standings. It will be a good challenge for our team.”

The Aigles Bleues have 12 games remaining in the schedule before the mid-February playoffs. The 6 best ranked teams will qualify to advance.
