Valéry Déry and Samuel Bourque are the UMoncton Athletes of the Week
Athletics performances earned Valéry Déry of Bouctouche and Samuel Bourque of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, New Brunswick the titles of IRM Moncton MRI Athlete of the Week from December 12 to 18, 2022 as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Valérie Déry stood out this weekend during the Last Chance Competition at the Vance-Toner Stadium of the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud on the Moncton campus. She took first place in the high jump with a personal mark of 1.57 m, an improvement of 7 cm. She is ranked 17th in U SPORTS and 4th in Atlantic University Sport (AUS). She is a third-year Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology student.
Samuel Bourque also grabbed first place in the shot put, his specialty. He is ranked third by U SPORTS and first in AUS. His best throw was 16m59 on Saturday. He is a fourth-year business administration (finance – co-op) student.
