Three Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus players and their coach have been named to the U SPORTS Men's Hockey All-Star Team, which will face Team Canada Junior this weekend at Moncton's Centre Avenir Centre.

This is the eighth time since 2015 that a U SPORTS men's hockey all-star team will face a roster of players from Canada's National Junior Team selection camp as part of its preparations for the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Defenceman Yann-Félix Lapointe and forwards Vincent Deslauriers and Nathaël Roy will be among the Atlantic University Sport players chosen to make up this all-star team. Forward Mika Cyr was also chosen, but he will not play. Coach Derek Cormier will be one of the team's assistant coaches and Vincent Lamontagne will be the equipment manager.

“This is a great opportunity for our AUS and U SPORTS league to show our caliber of play,” said Derek Cormier. “Everything will happen quickly, we meet Friday night for one training session and two more on Saturday. We will have to put these 20 players together. We will play against good junior players. We need to be ready and have systems to create something good. It's good for our players, it's a chance at the international level and a high calibre of play. Those will be two big games. I accepted without hesitation to be with the team and I am proud of our chosen players.”

U SPORTS has selected players exclusively from Atlantic University Sport (AUS) to make up its All-Star Team. Both games will be played at the Centre Avenir Centre on Sunday at 2 p.m. and Monday at 12 p.m.  People can buy tickets at the Centre Avenir Centre.

Hockey Canada's National Junior Team has played against various U SPORTS teams on a regular basis since 1988. U SPORTS began adopting its current all-star team format in 2015 and has a 6-6-1 record in the last seven camps.
