Joanie Arsenault and Étienne Montpetit are UMoncton's Athletes of the Week
Joanie Arsenault, from Tracadie, New Brunswick and Étienne Montpetit, from Valleyfield, Quebec, are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes of the week from March 7 to 13, 2022 as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Blocker Joanie Arsenault scored 4 kills, 26 attacks and 4 digs in the Aigles Bleues loss in women's volleyball. She was an inspiration to her teammates on the court with her play. Despite the 3-0 defeat, she continued to deliver a performance to encourage her team not to give up. She is a primary education student.
Goalkeeper Étienne Montpetit played three games during the week, scoring two wins and one loss. He turned away 27 shots on Sunday and registered a shutout, including 3 spectacular last-second saves with the mitt or pad. He faced 30 shots on Tuesday and gave up two goals in his team's overtime win. He saw 33 shots Friday in the first game of the quarterfinal series, a loss. He faced 90 shots and certainly was instrumental in offering his team a chance to win. He was chosen Subway player of the game twice. He is a student in Business Administration-Finance.
