Audrey Berthiaume and Samuel Bourque are UMoncton Athletes of the Week
Audrey Berthiaume, of Saint-Bruno, Québec and Samuel Bourque of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, New Brunswick, are the athletes of the week IRM Moncton MRI from February 14 to 20, 2022, as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Goaltender Audrey Berthiaume (4-2-0) scored two shutouts in the Aigles Bleues two women's hockey games during the week. She faced 13 (6-6-1) shots, but some quite dangerous, in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Mounties. Despite the few shots, she had to stand out several times to keep her team in the game. On Saturday, in a 2-0 win, she was able to make key saves and give the Aigles Bleues the chance to win. She faced 24 (8-9-7) shots while her opposite saw 17. His skills have allowed the Aigles to win their last three games and climb in the standings. She is a fourth-year student in B.A. - Psychology.
Track and field thrower Samuel Bourque set two Université de Moncton records at the competition held in Saint John on Friday and Saturday. He won the hammer throw competition on Saturday in 16,07m. The institution's previous record was 15,24m set in 2004. Friday in the shot put, he managed a throw of 15,38m. The old record was 13,39m set in 1987, so that's 1,99m more. He finished second in the event, 1cm behind the winner. He is currently ranked 6th by U SPORTS in the hammer and 5th in the weight throw. He is a third-year bachelor's student in Business Administration-Finance.
