Two experienced players will strengthen the Université de Moncton's Aigles Bleus roster in men's soccer for the upcoming 2022-2023 Atlantic University Sport season.

Forward Robert Kamano, 17 of Moncton, and midfielder Wylliam Sydavong, 18, of Carigan, Montérégie, Québec, have signed their letter of intent from U SPORTS to line up with Younes Bouida's team for the upcoming academic year.

“Wylliam is a player who will solidify our midfield,” said the head coach. “He is a leader on and off the field who will do good to the team culture. He is generous in his efforts and stands out for his versatility and his spirit of winning. He has a good technical game, plays physical and will be ready to play. For his part, Robert is one of the best players from the New Brunswick High Performance Academy. He is a complete striker who can score and create scoring chances. He could become one of the pillars of our team.”

Robert Kamano is 6 feet 4 inches tall, 180 pounds and is originally from Guinea/Conakry. A former member of the New Brunswick High Performance Academy, he played with the Codiac AAA U17 last year. “I appreciate the collective potential of the Aigles Bleus team,” he said. “I want to observe and learn as much information as possible.”

A soccer ball at his feet was natural for Robert Kamano, having started at the age of one and a half. “I followed my uncle to the field every night. He was the one who taught me the basics.”

Kamano brings to the team his speed, physical strength, and ball control. “I'd like to gain new knowledge about the tactical and technical side of sport. I know all the players on the team, having played with or against most of them. It's a new experience full of challenges, the players are physically stronger than my opponents of the past, but I'm ready to take on the challenge.” Kamano is enrolled in the nursing science program.

Wylliam Sydavong is 6 feet 3 inches tall, 190 lbs. Born in Longueuil, Quebec, he has origins from Cambodia and Laos. He currently plays with the Saint-Lambert U21 AAA and AAA senior of the LSEQ league.

“I want to join the Aigles for several reasons,” he said. “The Aigles and the Université de Moncton have a very good reputation for their academic programs, sports and student life. I was very interested in the school curriculum. I really appreciated the approach of the coach who was very professional. I am always looking for new experiences by stepping out of my comfort zone to reach new limits, whether academically, in sports or in my personal life.”

He will give his maximum on the field to help the Aigles to win. He wants to see the team play as far as possible. Engineering will be his program of studies. He has been playing since the age of 5. He is a persevering and competitive player who brings energy no matter where he plays. He practiced Kyokushin karate until the age of 10.

“On the pitch, I am described as a great powerful player who can make a difference with his good feet and a good strike,” he added. “To move to another level, I am working on my game intelligence, my decision-making and my speed of execution.”
