Alexia Desforges and Étienne Montpetit are UMoncton Athletes of the Week
Alexia Desforges, of Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, and Étienne Montpetit, of Valleyfield, Quebec, are the athletes of the week IRM Moncton MRI from February 7 to 13, 2022, as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Forward Alexia Desforges was selected as the Subway player of the game in the Aigles Bleues win over the Mount Allison University Mounties in women's hockey last Friday. She scored a goal, added an assist with three shots on goal and was +2 during the game. Her contribution was constant throughout the game, the first in two months. She is a third-year kinesiology student.
Goaltender Étienne Montpetit was very busy during the Aigles Bleus men's shootout loss to the University of New Brunswick Reds. He faced 55 (18-19-16-2) shots and gave his team a chance to win by making multiple saves on numerous occasions in 65 minutes of play. His performance gave confidence to the other players on the team who were able to focus on their tasks. He is a fourth-year bachelor's student in Business Administration-Finance.
