The first half of the 2021-2022 Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball regular season will conclude this weekend with the presentation of a league tournament in Halifax for the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues.

Still looking for a first victory this season, the Blue and Gold (0 and 5=0pts,5th position) will play three games. The first will be Friday evening against the tournament host team, the Dalhousie University Tigers (3 and 2=6pts, 4th position). The Saint Mary's University Huskies (6 and 0=12pts, 1st position) will be the opposition on Saturday at 5 p.m. and the Memorial University Sea-Hawks (0 and 6=0pts, 6th position) will play for the win Sunday noon. The games are promising because the Aigles usually lose by only a few points in each set.

“We are still looking for our first victory and we will give everything for this end of the first semester tournament,” said coach Joline Richard. “We have prepared ourselves physically and mentally and are looking for a rewarding experience this weekend. It's quite demanding to play three games in as many days, but we're ready.”

For striker Ivana Urquhart-Mladineo, “we are changing our mentality for these three games. We think towards the positive and we need to play aggressively throughout the games. To win our first victory, everyone needs to play very well. We are able to compete with other teams, we must be ready mentally and be well prepared.”

The athlete begins her fourth season with the Aigles Bleues. “I'm looking for a championship,” she added. “We all have the same goal, and it takes courage and being aware of our efforts. We have made a lot of progress since the beginning of the season. We learn well and compose a good team. We are confident to have our first victory and to reach 25 points in a number of sets.”

The games can be viewed at the AUStv.ca.
