Players Maxime-Olivier Dako and Zachary Lurette will be suiting up with the Université de Moncton men’s soccer team for the next Atlantic University Sport season.

Maxime-Olivier Dako

Monctonian Dako stands 6 ft. 1 in. and plays defensive midfielder. He plans to study in the Multidisciplinary Bachelor’s Degree program next year.

“Maxime-Olivier Dako is a graduate of Soccer NB’s High Performance Academy,” Coach Younes Bouida explained. “He’s been playing on provincial teams for over six years. He has great potential and will contribute lots of seriousness and an excellent work ethic. With his feel for the game, he’ll be a midfielder to watch.”

“I’m happy to join the Aigles Bleus because I’m proud to wear the colours of my hometown university’s soccer team,” said Dako. “I’ve been passionate about football since I was a little boy. By joining the Aigles I’ll be able to gain skills that I can use as a springboard toward the next steps in my dream, which is to play at the highest level possible. What I will bring to the team is the energy of a young player hungry to give his best performance every time he steps onto the pitch.”

Zachary Lurette

Lurette, who is from Campbellton, is a wing midfielder. He is 6 ft. 4 in. tall. He currently plays on the Polyvalente Roland-Pépin team. This coming year he intends to begin his studies in the Bachelor of Primary Education program.

“Zackary is a hard-working young man and he can perform well in his role in all phases of the game,” explained Younes Bouida. “We know that he’ll keep on making progress at the university level and in the Aigles family. He’s passionate about the round ball and he’ll really enjoy the high-level environment.”

“Receiving a call from the coach and an invitation is a great honour, and fulfills my childhood dreams,” declared Lurette. “I can hardly wait to join the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus starting next season. Soccer hasn’t just helped me to develop as an athlete and as a person. It’s given me a chance to travel and meet people from different cultures and countries. No doubt about it, I’m going to show up at training camp with an open mind, ready to face whatever challenges arise, and especially eager to learn from the coaching staff and my new teammates. I’m going to set myself personal objectives to get better with every training session. I’m going to do my best and work extremely hard to help my new teammates to reach our shared objectives. In short, soccer is more than a sport to me. It’s a culture, it’s a passion that helps me to excel every time I am on the pitch.”
