Moncton Hosts Reds Wednesday
“The Reds have an explosive team and I hope my players have not forgotten the game played two weeks ago,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “They play well at home and on the road. We play with confidence in our nest, so the game could be decided on small details. Our players are in shape, but need to play 60 minutes. The Reds lost two games against the X-Men and we play well against them. We are capable, we must believe in our means. We only have three points ahead of the Panthers in 5th position and we need a win.”
Moncton won 3-1 over Acadia on Saturday evening in a game where the visitors had the upper hand. “We were lucky to win on Saturday and it will not be a picnic if we play like that against Fredericton,” said rookie defencemen Vincent Lanoue. “We need to learn from that and come back to the basics. We are aware everything begins with a good defensive strategy that transforms to a good offensive push. We need to forget the last game against Fredericton; it was a hard lesson for us. We were lucky to turn the page fast and win our next game. That score is in the back of our head, but it should not affect us on Wednesday.”
Étienne Montpetit will be in nets. In previous games, Fredericton won 5-4, 5-1 and 10-0 while Moncton came ahead 4-3. Maxime St-Cyr, the AUS top scorer with 22 goals in 23 games, will return to the line-up. The Reds have quite an offence with 126 goals scored and 50 against. Moncton is 85-86. Moncton has four games left in the regular schedule, including the last home game on Friday against the Panthers.
