U de M soccer teams looking for wins

Time is becoming short for the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton soccer teams to qualify for the Atlantic University Sport playoffs.

With half the season played, the Aigles Bleues (1-5-0=3pts, 8th position) will face the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (1-4-1=4pts, 7th position), Friday at 5p.m. in Charlottetown.

“We definitely need to avoid making the small errors that arise in our games,” coach Mehyar Zekaroui said. “I am happy with the players’ performance, but the game is decided on certain details. We need better concentration in certain moments of the game and in the various zones. We are confident we will win more games. All players are healthy and we will show our dominance over the Panthers. We need to lead offensively and avoid surprises.”

The Aigles Bleus (0-6-0=0pts, 9th position) meet the men Panthers (1-3-2=5pts, 8th position), at 7:15p.m.

“The strategy is in place for a victory,” indicated coach Florian Ntima Nsiemi. “We did look at various video games of the Panthers this week. We told our players what works for us and emphasized the positive aspects of our play. I expect our efforts will have an effect on the local team. We are against a wall and winning at UPEI will not be easy. We have to break up this losing streak, concentrate and position ourselves to win games.”
