How to Manage Workplace Conflicts

How to Manage Workplace Conflicts

When a conflict arises in a workplace, it becomes a considerable source of frustration and unease. If it is ill-managed, a conflict will create a toxic work environment, make people feel unwell, and can become escalated and turn into long legal battles resulting in a great loss in productivity and money. When, however, it is well managed, a conflict can have a prosperous effect on an organization and become the starting point for personal growth and development. This is your opportunity to sharpen your conflict management skills with a series of three workshops targeting healthy and effective conflict management. While they complete each other, each workshop can be taken separately. The learning methods will be diverse: presentations, discussions and interactions, exercises in small groups, and role playing.

The ability to diligently manage conflict fosters organizational efficiency and overall performance. Managers and their teams will benefit greatly from becoming familiar with the wide range of approaches at their disposal when a conflict arises. The goal of this workshop is to broaden your knowledge in terms of conflict resolution approaches in order to make an informed decision on which method to use in the event of a conflict.

Goals:

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • identify conflict management approaches based on power, rights and interests;
  • apply an approach based on interests and needs;
  • understand conflict escalation and the importance of dealing with a conflict swiftly;
  • define the costs and benefits linked to conflicts; and
  • understand conflict resolution policies within organizations.
