he provides an overview of the history of the
foundation of the parish and the archdiocese.

aesthetic beauty, he gives some time markers
since its construction with due consideration
to the various embellishments and changes to
which it was subjected over the course of decades A publication
of the Research Chair in Acadian Studies, this book was directed
by
Marie-Linda Lord
, with the assistance of

TECHNOLOGY AND
HEALTH SCIENCES CENTRE
On April 10, the Moncton Campus inaugurated its technology and
health sciences centre. The new 3,000 m
2
centre is located close to
both the engineering and the health sciences and community services
buildings; it houses research and teaching labs equipped with
state-of-the-art technology. Connected to engineering faculty, the
Jacqueline-Bouchard pavilion and the arts building, the new centre
will help the Moncton Campus expand its research and development
capacities in engineering, nutrition and family studies.
NORTHERN HARDWOOD
RESEARCH INSTITUTE
On May 11, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and New Brunswick Premier
David Alward were at the Edmundston campus to announce the establishment
of the Northern Hardwood Research Institute. Having identified forestry
as a key development area for the Edmundston Campus, the Université
realized several years ago that with the issues facing the forestry industry,
it was important to increase the research capacity within the forestry program.
That is how the idea of creating this research institute evolved. The Institute
will undertake applied research that will provide industry and other stakeholders
with knowledge on the growth and sustainability of northern hardwood,
namely by establishing models of growth and intervention programs and
techniques for the forestry sector. The Université de Moncton has partnered
with Acadian Timber, AV Group, Groupe Savoie and J. D. Irving. The project
received funding of $1,586,000 for five years from each level of government,
with the Université de Moncton and industry partners providing a total
of $500,000 each.
