CONVOCATION
On October 21, during the Moncton Campus’ fall convocation, the Université
de Moncton conferred an honorary doctorate to one individual and emeritus
status upon four others who have made outstanding contributions in their
respective fields. An honorary doctorate in arts was conferred to author and
essayist
John Ralston Saul. Réal Allard
and
Catalina Ferrer
were named
professor emeritus in education and Roger Bourque received emeritus
status in business administration.
Stéphanie Ward
, a bachelor of nutrition
graduate, was valedictorian.
During convocation ceremonies held at the three campuses
in May, the Université conferred four honorary degrees
to accomplished individuals who have made outstanding
contributions in their respective fields.
Richard Losier
,
a well-known business man in the Acadian Peninsula,
received an honorary degree in business administration.
Jacques Diouf
, former United Nations’ Food and
Agriculture Organization director general, received
an honorary degree in forestry.
Bernard Cerquiglini
,
Agence universitaire de la Francophonie President,
received an honorary degree in arts, and
Benoît
Pelletier
, politician and University of Ottawa law
professor, received an honorary degree in law.
