HONORING GRADUATES
The Association des anciens, anciennes et amis - Moncton Campus honored
two graduates during a ceremony held in October at the Café Osmose. Bernard
Richard, former ombudsman and child and youth advocate for New Brunswick,
was awarded the Order of Merit for graduates of the Université de Moncton.
This award recognizes the outstanding contribution of a member of the alumni
who gives honour to her/his alma mater and profession, be it in the religious,
political, social, economic, scientific or artistic field. The alumni association
also awarded the Prix Émergence to Lise Caissie, a chartered accountant and
partner at the Ernst & Young firm in Dieppe. Introduced in 2008, this award
aims at promoting the new generation of graduates who make outstanding
contributions in various spheres of activity through exceptional career
performance or substantial community involvement.
Debbie Dupuis, a native of Memramcook, was named alumni of the year at the
annual science faculty banquet. She was presented with Le Prisme in recognition of
an outstanding career in science. She is a professor at the Université de Montréal’s
École des hautes études commerciales. When she completed her bachelor’s degree,
she was awarded the most prestigious higher education scholarship of that time
by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
The administration faculty honored Paul J. LeBlanc by naming him alumni of the
year during the 43
rd
edition of its annual banquet. President of the Atlantic Canada
Opportunities Agency since 2010, Mr. LeBlanc is a graduate of the Université
de Moncton. He obtained a bachelor in psychology in 1975 and a master’s in
business administration in 1977.
The engineering faculty named Roland LeBlanc, P. Eng. (civil engineering, 1989),
their alumni for 2012 in recognition of the excellence he has shown throughout
his career as an engineer. Mr. LeBlanc is Manager of exp. Services’ Moncton office
(former ADI Group), past-President of Consulting Engineers of New Brunswick
and President of Acadia Consultants & Inspectors Ltd. He was the guest speaker
at the annual engineering faculty banquet.
SPRING BANQUET IN SHIPPAGAN
On May 29, Liane Roy, New Brunswick network of francophone community
colleges (CCNB) President and CEO, was guest speaker at the spring banquet
of the Association des anciens, anciennes et amis - Shippagan Campus.
ANTONINE MAILLET GIVES ORIGINAL
MANUSCRIPT OF LA SAGOUINE
Well-known author and Chancellor Emeritus of the Université de Moncton,
Antonine Maillet has granted to the university the original manuscript of her
best-known work, La Sagouine. This major piece of work was handed over during
a ceremony recognizing major donors to the institution in the fall of 2011.
