Mireille Demers Named Next Dean of Students at Shippagan Campus

The Board of Governors of the Université de Moncton has announced the appointment of Mireille Demers as Dean of Studies at the Shippagan campus of the Université de Moncton (UMSC).

"I am delighted with the appointment of Mireille Demers as Dean of Studies at the Shippagan campus and look forward to working with her. I'm confident that her background and experience will contribute greatly to the advancement of current projects," said Gilles Roy, Vice-President, Academics and Research.

Mireille Demers has been a professor of psychology at the Université de Moncton, Shippagan campus, since 2016. She holds a master's degree in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Nottingham, England, obtained with distinction in December 2012, and a doctorate in psychology from the Université de Moncton, obtained in February 2016. From 2021 to 2023, she assumed the role of Sector Manager in Administration, Arts and Social Sciences, where she made a significant contribution to its development.

Her research focuses on important topics such as interpersonal stress in the workplace, health and psychological well-being in the workplace, employee motivation and performance, and change management. Her research projects have led her to become heavily involved in the development of professional education at the Université de Moncton, including the Modern-Day Management and Municipal Management programs, summer schools, and the Université de Moncton's executive training program.

In addition to her academic and research activities, Demers has a strong record of community involvement and active participation in university, scientific and community activities. She has served on several committees, including the Research Ethics Board, the Fonds de recherche du Québec, the UMCS Collective agreement negotiating committee, the UMSC Research Committee, the Shippagan Chamber of Commerce, and the Workforce Development Partnership Forum under the direction of the Acadian Peninsula Regional Service Commission. Throughout her academic and professional career, she has demonstrated a commitment and passion for healthy and optimal organizational development.

Demers will take office on July 1, 2024, for a regular five-year term.
