Highlights of the April 6 Board of Governors Meeting

Université de Moncton to focus on implementing its strategy

The Université de Moncton Board of Governors has approved the 2024-2025 budget, which shows a slight surplus of $1.5 million.

The increase in international enrolment in recent years has allowed the Université de Moncton to manage a favourable financial context. This increase in enrolment has enabled us to make some strategic investments in recent years. However, the cap on study permits announced in January by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) adds considerable uncertainty to international enrolment for the 2024-2025 academic year.

"In the last few days, we were pleased to learn that the number of record letters for international students that will be allocated to us will increase, thus enabling us to welcome more students than we had anticipated when the new policy was announced. However, many factors remain uncertain, and we need to be prudent in our spending as well," says Dr. Denis Prud'homme, President and Vice-Chancellor.

This budget will prioritize investments in flagship projects and priority actions under the institutional operational plan of the Setting Course for the Future 2023-2028 strategy, in addition to supporting the Climate Action Plan.

Tuition increase

The Board of Governors also approved a 3% tuition increase for all students.
