A 12th Atlantic University Sport title is now possible for the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus who will face the University of New Brunswick Reds in the Atlantic University Sport men's hockey best of 3 grand final.

The first game will be Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Aitken University Centre on the Fredericton campus, with the second game on Tuesday, March 5th at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

The last time the Aigles Bleus reached the final was in the 2011-2012 season against the same Reds. Both teams are already guaranteed a spot at the U SPORTS national hockey championship in Toronto in mid-March. The Aigles Bleus and Reds have each won their best-of-5 semi-final series in three games.

For Aigles Bleus defenceman Alexis Arsenault, “It's a great challenge that awaits us. We're focused on the final and we want to get to the national through the front door. We'll have to play our game and we'll be ready. UNB has a big team and we're going to have to step up our game. Defensively, we had some success against StFX and we want to keep the same game. We need to be confident and have a good chance of closing plays at the blue line. All the players are motivated to create a surprise and I can assure you that all the players will be ready on Saturday.”

“It's another season starting in the playoffs and it's always in our plan to win the AUS title,” added Aigles Bleus coach Derek Cormier. “If we play our way, we should do well. StFX and UNB are different teams, but we play great games against the Reds. With good game discipline and if we play our game, we'll take fewer penalties and we'll play a solid game as a group.”

The Reds haven't lost a game in the regular season or playoffs, and the team has won every outing between the two clubs in 2023-2024. Edouard St-Laurent will not be available for the series.

Spectators may buy tickets for the Tuesday game at the CEPS reception during business hours.
