Caroline Gagnon and Samuel Bourque are UMoncton's athletes of the week
Caroline Gagnon of Moncton and Samuel Bourque of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, New Brunswick, are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes for the week of February 19 to 25, 2024, as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Runner Caroline Gagnon won the silver medal in the 60m hurdles at the Atlantic University Sport Track and Field Championships this weekend at the Moncton campus. She managed a time of 8.90s (8.93 old) and set a personal best, a provincial and Université de Moncton records in the discipline. She also contributed to her team's relay races. She is a 3rd-year medical student.
Thrower Samuel Bourque won two gold medals and was named the 2023-2024 AUS field athlete of the year last weekend. He set an AUS, university and provincial record with a distance of 17.01 m in the shot put on Saturday for his first medal. He won the hammer throw on Sunday with 15.70 m. He is a 5th year student in the Bachelor of Business Administration-Co-op program.
