Reds visit Aigles Bleus on Tuesday evening
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (15-9-3-0=33pts, 2nd position) will play their last home game of the regular season on Tuesday night (February 6 - instead of Wednesday, February 7) when they host the University of New Brunswick Reds (28-0-0-0=56pts, 1st position) in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.
The changes to the schedule were made on Monday following storms that forced the postponement of some games. The battle between the two top teams in the league promises at the end of the regular season. Both teams are guaranteed a bye in the semi-finals. The game was supposed to be played on Wednesday night, but it was moved up as the Aigles Bleus will be in Antigonish on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to face the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men (13-13-1-0=27pts, 4th position), a game postponed from last Saturday.
“It's a game that will prepare us for the playoffs,” said Aigles Bleus coach Derek Cormier. “Both teams know where they stand. We're going to give it our all as if it's part of the playoffs and we'll be able to better analyze what we still need to prepare well for the playoffs.”
The Aigles Bleus will travel to Charlottetown on Friday night for a matchup with the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in the final game of the regular season. The playoffs begin next week.
