Women's hockey: Panthers Aigles Bleues game on Friday
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (13-10-0-2=28pts, 4th position) will host the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (7-15-0-3=17pts, 7th position) on Friday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena on the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game.
It's the only game of the weekend for Marc-André Côté's team, which has already secured its spot in the postseason. The Panthers, meanwhile, were eliminated from the playoffs.
“We have to win our next three games to finish as high as possible in the standings to have home-ice advantage,” said Marc-André Côté. “The Panthers are tough, and we'll have to make sure we're playing in playoff mode with the focus on our game. All the standings points are important with St. Thomas also having 28 points and we are 4 points behind Saint Mary's in 3rd place.”
Erica Plourde is the AUS's leading goal scorer with 16 goals in 25 games. She added 11 assists for 27 points, 3rd in the individual standings.
Tickets for the game may be purchased at the arena box office beginning at 6 p.m. The Aigles Bleues will complete their regular schedule next week with 2 games.
