The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus will host two different teams on Friday and Saturday in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey action.

The Aigles Bleus (13-8-3-0=29pts, 2nd position) will do everything possible to win these two games to maintain their second position in the league standings. The Acadia University Axemen (7-13-1-3=18pts, 7th position) will be the visitors on Friday and the Saint Mary's University Huskies (13-10-1-0=27pts, 3rd place) on Saturday, both games at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

The regular schedule indicates there are 6 games to be played before the start of the playoffs in February. Moncton would like to finish 2nd to earn a bye in the semifinals. The final standings are not yet cast in stone; the Huskies are only 2 points behind the Aigles Bleus. These games are against lower-ranked teams.

“We know where we are in the standings and it's two big games for us to finish second,” said Aigles Bleus coach Derek Cormier. “We're going for two wins this weekend. We talked to the players about the importance of finishing second to have a lighter run in the playoffs. We can finish 2nd or 4th, so we'll work as hard as we can to remain second.”

According to forward Édouard St-Laurent, “It's important to prepare well for the games. The points are important between now and the end of the year and we need the 4 points. The motivation is there, we can't wait to play. Second place will give us home-ice advantage and a bye in the first round.”

People may purchase tickets for games during the day at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud reception desk or one hour before the start of the game at the arena box office.
