It was with great sadness that the Université de Moncton learned of the passing of Suzanne Lévesque, a major benefactor and long-time friend of the Acadian institution.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Lévesque dedicated herself to continuing her father's work of supporting the mission of educational institutions and research. The Université de Moncton will be eternally grateful.

During her many years at the helm of the Fondation J.-Louis Lévesque, she contributed to a number of major projects, including the renovation of the J.-Louis Lévesque Arena on the Moncton campus.

The Fondation J.-Louis Lévesque is the most generous donor to the Université de Moncton. In addition to structural projects, it has enabled the creation of scholarship funds and two research chairs, one in financial management and the other in health.

More recently, the Foundation helped create the theatre named after her father, J-Louis Lévesque, at the Carrefour international des études acadiennes, an exhibit that recreates the Montreal office of the financier and philanthropist.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to our community, the Université de Moncton awarded Mrs. Lévesque an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities in 1998, the institution's highest honour.

Mrs. Lévesque will always be remembered for her legacy and her significant contribution to the mission of the Université de Moncton.

Flags will be flown at half-mast on all three campuses of the Université de Moncton on January 25 and 26.
