Zachary Brideau joins the Aigles Bleus

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus coach Younes Bouida is pleased that Tracadie's Zachary Brideau has signed his U SPORTS letter of intent to wear his team’s Moncton campus uniform for the 2024-2025 Atlantic University Sport men's soccer season.

Zachary Brideau, 18, is 5 feet 7 inches (176 cm) tall and originally from the Acadian Peninsula. He plays for Club FC Péninsule. He played with FC Péninsule U18, FC Péninsule senior and Codiac soccer U18. He is also a member Campus de Shippagan soccer Rafales of the Ligue de soccer sénior de la Côte-Nord and participated in various tournaments with the Rafales.

Brideau wants to join the Aigles Bleus because “I've been passionate about soccer since I was a kid and I've always had a great interest in continuing at a level where the competition is higher. My motivation to play at a university level is very great and I am honoured to be an Acadian representative. I have been preparing for several years to achieve this goal by training in the various programs/events such as the NB Soccer High Performance Academy (2020-2021), NB Soccer Programs since 2015, Camps Martin Herdman (2023) and the Canada Youth Cup (2023).”

He has participated in all the soccer programs in his region with the Minor Soccer Association, Club soccer Péninsule, in high school and at the Jeux de l'Acadie.

“I am extremely proud to continue playing the sport I am passionate about with the Aigles Bleus by working hard for the good of the team, collaborating with the players and respecting the game plan of the coaching staff. I hope to be able to make a positive contribution on and off the field and have the chance to further develop within the team.”

He has been in the sport for 10 years and his strengths are his positioning, technique, vision of the game, execution, and respect for the game plan. He wants to be able to adapt quickly to different game systems and strategies for different teams. He wants to continue his development as a university player. He is enrolled in the health DSS program. He has also played badminton, being the provincial high school champion in 2023.
