Aigles Bleues-Reds game Wednesday in Fredericton
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (9-3-0-2= 20pts, 3rd position) head west on Wednesday to play the University of New Brunswick Reds (11-3-0-0=22pts, 1st position) in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game at 7 p.m. at the Aitken University Centre.
The blue and gold have won their last three outings while the Reds have lost their last meeting and only 2 points separate these two teams at the top of the standings at the halfway point of the 28-game season. The Reds have scored 46 goals in 14 games and allowed 25. The Aigles Bleues' record is 39 and 33. Moncton blanked the Reds 2-0 on Nov. 4.
“We're starting a week against the best teams in the league,” said Aigles Bleues coach Marc-André Côté. “The team is growing with every game. We will have to play hard from the first minutes of the game without giving up. We know UNB is going to come out strong on Wednesday and we need to be ready. We'll have to be solid for the full 60 minutes.”
The Aigles Bleues will also play the No. 2 team, the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women on Friday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.
