Audrey Berthiaume and Edouard St-Laurent are the UMoncton athletes of the week
Audrey Berthiaume of Saint-Bruno and Edouard St-Laurent of Lévis, Quebec are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes of the week from 5th to 12th 2023 as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Fifth year goaltender Audrey Berthiaume recorded a shutout in the Aigles Bleues 1-0 women's hockey win over the St. Thomas University Tommies on Saturday. She made 18 saves and stopped two breakaways, including one in the final minute of play. The second period was the busiest with 9 shots. She was named her team's player of the game. She credited her defencemen for blocking or preventing pucks from reaching their destinations. She was ready when the pucks made it to her. She is a Bachelor of Elementary Education student (immersion and inclusive Education).
Third year forward Edouard St-Laurent took 6 shots on Friday night and scored a goal Saturday in the Aigles Bleus two losses in men's hockey. His offensive play gave his team hope in the third period on Saturday. He didn't stop giving his all every time he stepped on the ice. He is a third-year student in the Bachelor of Education (physical education) program.
