After suffering two losses in their last games, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus are desperate to get back to winning ways with two games on the road in Nova Scotia this weekend in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey action.

The blue and gold squad (6-3-1=13pts, 3rd place) will be in Antigonish on Friday to face the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men (6-3-1=13pts, 2nd place) at 7 p.m. Both teams have similar records, with the X-Men having won their last 5 games. On Saturday, Moncton will be in Halifax for a matchup with the Dalhousie University Tigers (3-7-0-0=6pts, 7th position). They have also lost their last two games.

According to second-year defenceman Thomas Pelletier, “We're preparing the right way to play 60 minutes. In the last few games, we didn't play the way we wanted to and we're putting the machine back to 0. We don't want to do what we did last year and have a long winless streak. We want to keep things simple, avoid making fancy plays and the result will be in our favour. Defensively, we weren't bad, we need to play the right way and tighten up. In my second year, it's the same environment on the team compared to last year. My role remains the same and I have to work hard and be ready for every game.”

“Our mission is to get the four points,” added assistant coach Ricky Jacob. “It won't be easy on the road and StFX is on a roll. We need to show up for both games. We made some changes during practices, and we added a big point against UNB last week. We're going to build on that to give us confidence.”

The X-Men have a record of 39 goals for and 33 against for a difference of 6 while Moncton is 34 and 32 for a difference of 2 after 10 games. Both teams have played a third of their 30-game season, and the standings remain tight. Jacob Hudson is 3rd in the individual scoring rankings for the X-Men with 8 goals and 5 assists for 13 points. The best of the Aigles Bleus, Jeremy Lapointe, is 6th with 6 and 6 for 12 points. Among defensemen, Thomas Pelletier is the team's leading scorer with 3 and 2 for 5 points, 7th in the league.

Both games can be watched live at AUStv.ca.
