Hockey: Aigles Bleus and Reds face off Friday in Fredericton
A much-anticipated hockey game will take place Friday in Fredericton as the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (6-3-0-0=12pts, 2nd place) will play the University of New Brunswick Reds (8-0-0-0=16pts, 1st position) in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game.
This battle between the two top standings teams after about a third of the regular season games is promising, with the Reds having not lost a game so far and the Aigles Bleus playing very good hockey for the past three weeks. However, Wednesday night's loss to the Panthers threw a chill on the rise of Derek Cormier's squad.
“We have to hit the reset button to get back to the intense game we played in the last few weeks,” said Derek Cormier. “We'll be ready for Friday night, and we've shown that we can play against anybody after our first loss to UNB. We've learned our lesson; they have a good team and so do we. We need to play a complete game to win.”
“We have a good team, and we have to play together,” added Nathaël Roy. “Our Wednesday loss will help us to better prepare. We'll have to be aggressive and play our game.”
The Reds have scored 40 goals and allowed 10 in 8 games and Moncton's record is 31 and 28 in 9 games.
