The Université de Moncton hosts the local French for the Future Forum: a full-day interactive event in French!

On November 2nd, 200 students from 8 different schools inside the Anglophone East School District area will gather at the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton for the French for the Future Local Forum. This much-awaited yearly event puts the French language in the spotlight, for a day of fun and learning about the advantages of bilingualism in Canada.

Through interactive and educational workshops, students will be given the opportunity to practice their French outside the classroom and to discover the professional and personal advantages that bilingualism has to offer. They will also meet with French students from other schools and school boards in the area. This is their chance to see that French is more than a language, it is a culture filled with diversity. Together students will overcome their apprehension to express themselves and will learn that they can also have fun in French!

“The Forum is a celebration of French culture that allows French as a second language students from different school boards to build relationships in a positive environment,” explains Gabrielle F. Fortin, French for the Future’s Executive Director. “In addition, we are proud to offer fun and interactive workshops, created just for these students.”

Guest Speakers

This year’s Moncton Local Forum guest speakers include: Mathieu Gingras, French for the Future ambassador, and Alelia Miller of Tantramar Regional High School, French for the Future youth ambassador 2023. They will discuss their relationship with French language, linguistic identity, and how their bilingualism was and is a major asset in their everyday lives.

French for the Future has organized around 15 Local Forums across Canada every year for the last 20 years. Every event is unique and always takes into account the particular characteristics of each city, and is organized with the support of a Local Committee of volunteers.

This year, the Moncton Local Forum is made possible through the support of l’Université de Moncton, the Consortium National de Formation en Santé as well as Canadian Parents for French NB.
