The Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Cross Country Championships will bring together the region's best runners on Saturday in Halifax with the Saint Mary's University Huskies as the host teams.

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues and Aigles Bleus will be present for the women's race at 12 p.m. and the men's race at 1 p.m. The 8km distance will be covered by the athletes and Moncton campus coach Steve LeBlanc is looking forward to seeing his team's progress.

“We're aiming for 2 athletes in the top 20 on the women's side and the same number in the top 30 on the men's side,” said Steve LeBlanc. “Athletes are expected to make their best team placements of the season and all hope to finish with the best times of the season.”

“I want to stay in the lead group during the race,” Sophie Black said. “I've reduced the volume of races a little bit this week in addition to working on speed, staying relaxed, and resting well. This is my fourth year at the AUS and I will use the experience of other years for my strategy.”

The Aigles Bleues in attendance are Sophie Black, Annie Clarke, Amélie Cormier, Gabrielle Côté, Hannah Levyssohn, Madalyn MacKinnon, and Elizabeth Vigneau. For the Aigles Bleus, there will be Yannick Dupuis, Félix Gautreau, Olivier Godin, Alain Lavoie, Pascal LeBlanc, and Julien Thibodeau.
