Elizabeth Galipeau and Alain Lavoie are the UMoncton athletes of the week
Elizabeth Galipeau of Bedford, Quebec and Alain Lavoie of Grand Falls, New Brunswick are IRM Moncton MRI athletes of the week from October 2 to 8, 2023 as chosen by the Athletic department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Aigles Bleues rookie and forward Elizabeth Galipeau got off to a great start in her
first season in AUS women's hockey. She scored three of her team's 7 goals in the
two games of the week. She took 5 shots on goal and finished with a +2 rating. She
continually motivated her teammates with her exemplary play. She scored a hat trick in
Friday night's 4-2 win over the Reds, her first career 3-goal. She is a first-year
student in nutrition.
Alain Lavoie is in his fourth year as a member of the Aigles Bleus men's cross country team. He was the fastest of his team in the cross-country competition on Saturday in Fredericton at Kingswood Park. He says he's happy with his training and ready to push himself over the next three weeks to get ready for the Atlantic University Sport Championships in Halifax. He is a 1st year master's student in counselling.
