Hockey: Reds visit Aigles Bleues on Friday
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (1-0-0=2pts) will host the University of New Brunswick Reds on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in their home opener of their 25th season in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey.
Marc-Andre Côté's squad won its opening game of the 2023-2024 campaign against the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers on Wednesday in Charlottetown and the coach hopes that momentum will continue Friday.
“We're looking for an improvement on our Wednesday performance,” said coach Marc-André Côté. “Offensively, we scored 3 goals and that's a good start. We need to keep up the momentum. Defensively, we had our ups and downs, and our downs need to be shorter.”
The team held a Thursday practice for a system of play reminder against the Reds, who finished first in the AUS standings last year, and were the playoff champions.
The introduction of the team's players and staff, as well as an official puck drop to kick off the season, will take place prior to the start of the game. Isadora Quirion is team captain with assistants Cassandra Call and Maritza Labrie.
Tickets can be purchased at the arena box office starting at 6 p.m.
