Université de Moncton’s Highest Enrollment Since 1994

The Université de Moncton achieved an exceptional enrollment rate, welcoming 5,316 full-time students this fall semester. This number had not been reached since 1994.

In fact, an enrollment of this size has only been surpassed on four other occasions, between 1991 and 1994, since the university was founded in 1963.

Overall, this represents an increase of 7.6% (+ 375 enrollments) over last fall.

According to President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Denis Prud'homme, the university will have to adapt quickly. "The changing needs of our students must be reflected in the kinds of welcome, support, and assistance services we provide. We're pleased that our students have been able to find housing, but we need to plan for long-term solutions."

Across the three campuses, there are 3,442 Canadian students (64.76%), a decrease of 94 enrollments. After a significant increase in the number of international students last year, the institution continued this growth and welcomed 469 more students than last year, for a total of 1,874 (+ 35.25%).

This increase is in addition to those of previous years, so that international enrollment has more than doubled in three years. Forty different countries are represented among our students, with Algeria among the countries with the highest rate of new international enrollment.

The number of new students increased significantly this year (+291), which is also good news for the institution.

The increase is most noticeable in the Faculty of Administration's programs, which report 194 more enrollments than last year.

Here are the tables (documents available in French only) of enrollment data for the three UMoncton campuses as of Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
