University Board of Governors Highlights

Unanimous support for the 75 Actions Identified in the Institutional Operational Plan

At its meeting on September 23, the Board of Governors adopted, unanimously, the University's Institutional Operational Plan.

The strategy "Setting Course for the Future 2023-2028" outlines five projects: creating a healthy, stimulating and caring environment; developing talent within the network; reinventing training; strengthening research, development and creation; getting closer to communities; while also ensuring flexibility within the organization through exemplary leadership.

For each of these areas, a series of actions have been defined that correspond to specific objectives to be achieved over the next three years. This Institutional Operational Plan calls on all University staff and community members to work closely together to implement the 75 actions across the five projects.

After several working sessions and internal and external consultations, we were able to define relevant and priority actions, taking into account our own context and specific challenges," said President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Denis Prud'homme. "Our goal is to build lasting relationships with our ecosystem of partners, and to value and focus on our staff members in order to provide our students with an unparalleled experience."

Nominations

The Board made three appointments, Karine McLaren as interim associate dean of the Faculty of Law, and Pierre Philippe Fergusson as interim academic dean of the Shippagan campus. Katherine d'Entremont has been appointed interim ombud.

Salle Viola-Léger

The performance hall, located in the Jeanne-de-Valois Pavilion on the Moncton campus, will henceforth be known as the Salle de spectacle Viola-Léger, in recognition of this great woman who left her mark not only on the Université de Moncton, but also on Acadian culture, theatre and Acadie. Renovations are underway, with an official opening scheduled for 2024.

Ratification of Agreement in Principle with AEUM

The Board of Governors has ratified the tentative agreement leading to a new collective agreement for the Association des employés de l'Université de Moncton - Administrative Support Staff and Maintenance and Trades Personnel (AEUM).

Retroactive to May 1, 2022, the new employment contract will run through April 30, 2026.

Name of the Université de Moncton

The Chair of the Board of Governors provided an update on the work regarding the production of the informative and technical report: "We have full confidence in these two people to deliver the report this fall, as planned, and we will honour our commitment to make it public. The Board of Governors does not take this process lightly, and we must take the time necessary to ensure that the process runs smoothly, and that the decision is well considered," says Denis Mallet, Chair of the Board of Governors.
