The Université de Moncton Hockey Aigles Bleus will play two pre-season games this week in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey.

Derek Cormier's protégés will host the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Ile de Lamèque Arena on the Acadian Peninsula. This game was scheduled for last Saturday and had been postponed due to bad weather.

Friday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena, the Saint Mary's University Huskies will be the Aigles Bleus opponents at 7p.m. Fans will have their first opportunity to see the 2023-2024 edition on the ice of the Moncton campus.

“These are two games that will help a lot in our preparation for the regular season,” said head coach Derek Cormier. “We are pleased to be able to play a game in the Acadian Peninsula with our two players from this region, Olivier-Luc Haché and William Basque. We can't wait to meet our fans in our nest on Friday. The Panthers and Huskies are always strong opponents for us, and this will be a great opportunity to evaluate our progress since the beginning of training.”

Note that the Blue and Gold defeated the St Francis Xavier University X-Men 3-2 in overtime in its first outing of the season. The team also unveiled its leadership group with Mika Cyr who is the new captain of the team. Cyr, currently injured, will have to wait a few more weeks before resuming action. He will be supported by Alexis Arsenault, Yann-Félix Lapointe and Nathaël Roy.

The regular season kicks off on Wednesday, October 4 when the Panthers will be the visitors at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.
