Mariève Allain and Mattéo Blanc are the UMoncton athletes of the week
Mariève Allain of Dieppe, New Brunswick, and Mattéo Blanc of Flavin, France, are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes of the week from September 11 to 17, 2023 as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Right defender Mariève Allain is on an upward slope with the
women's soccer Aigles Bleues. She is playing to her full potential and shows a lot of
responsibility in her role as a defender. She contributed greatly to her team's play
during both weekend games. Mariève Allain is one of the key players and the
coaching staff relies heavily on her to play against the best opponent attackers. She is a
second-year student in a diploma in health sciences.
Goaltender Mattéo Blanc registered two shutouts in the weekend Aigles Bleus men's soccer games, one win and one draw. His prowess managed to lead his team to a 2-0 win over the Panthers on Friday with a save on a penalty shot and three more spectacular saves in the air. He was imperial in goal and made key saves. He repeated his efforts Sunday in a 0-0 tie game. He is a 1st year student in the Bachelor of Sports, Recreation and Tourism management.
