Cross-country: UMoncton teams in Antigonish on Saturday

The two Université de Moncton teams will travel to Antigonish, Nova Scotia on Saturday for their first Atlantic University Sport cross-country competition.

The Aigles Bleues and Aigles Bleus will use this first competition of the season to analyze their performance and build their training for the AUS championship in Halifax in the fall.

The St. Francis Xavier University X-Women and X-Men will host this kick off cross-country racing season competition. According to Moncton coach Steve LeBlanc, “This will be a test for us in this first competition. I want to evaluate our performance and know our possibilities for the season. Both of our teams are going to be strong this season.”

Moncton runner Hannah Levysshon is in her third season with the Blue and Gold team. “I'm excited for the new season,” she said. “I enjoy running and our goal is always to have fun and have good races. We encourage each other as athletes, and it will be a good environment for us.” Other than Hannah, the other women competing are Amélie Cormier, Elisabeth Vigneau, Annie Clarke, Gabrielle Côté and Madalyn MacKinnon.

“This is our first competition, and we want to test the waters,” added athlete Alain Lavoie. “We had good training sessions, but the competition is different. We didn't cover everything in our training. We will see what we can do and examine our strategies.” On the men's side, there will be Yannick Dupuis, Julien Thibodeau, Alain Lavoie, Pascal LeBlanc, Félix Gautreau and Olivier Jacob Godin.
