Grâce Masimengo and Gabrielle Belone will line up with the Aigles Bleues

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues head coach Mehyar Zekaroui is proud that Dieppe's Grâce Masimengo and Moncton’s Gabrielle Belone have signed their U SPORTS letter of intent to play with his team for the 2023-2024 Atlantic University Sport women's soccer season.

At 17 years old, Grâce Masimengo is 5 feet 9 inches tall. Born in Moncton, she has played for CS Dieppe since 2016. “I was a member of the New Brunswick High Performance Academy from 2019 to 2022 and played with Mathieu-Martin Vedettes in girls’ soccer in 2023,” said Grâce Masimengo.

She is enrolled in the Nursing Program at the Moncton campus. “I wanted to continue my secondary education in French,” she continued. “The soccer team is really a family and I want to be a part of that. I wish to play in positive soccer seasons that will allow me to continue my soccer career after university. I aim to play in a professional league and be part of the DR Congo national team.”

She has been playing in the sport for more than 10 years and describes herself as calm with the ball. She says she can pass the ball well and defend in 1 on 1 situations. “I would like to work on my speed, discipline and mentally playing aspects. It's really important to have that in my position.” Her two brothers, Christian and Héritier have already worn the Aigles Bleus colors in men's soccer.

Gabrielle Belone 17 and is 5 feet 6 inches tall and is originally from Moncton. She has played for Codiac soccer, Team NB, NB High Performance Academy and the Codiac Senior Women's A League team.

“Playing with the Aigles Bleues gives me the opportunity to stay close to home and represent my region,” she said. “I will be surrounded by several other players with whom I have played. I aim to be a starting player in every game. I would also like to develop my skills and improve my leadership characteristics as a soccer player.”

The athlete has gained a lot of experience because she has been playing since she was 3 years old. She is an energetic person who gives her 100% and this is demonstrated on the field. His greatest strength is her speed on the attack. She hopes to improve her ball control, her fake moves and endurance. She is enrolled in kinesiology
