Érik Labelle Eastaugh Appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law
The Board of Governors has appointed Érik Labelle Eastaugh as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Université de Moncton.
Labelle Eastaugh has been a professor in the Faculty of Law at the Université de Moncton, Moncton campus, since 2017. He holds a doctorate in constitutional law and a master's degree in comparative law from Oxford University. He obtained his Licence in Civil Law from the University of Ottawa in 2006. Since 2021, Labelle Eastaugh has been Director of the International Observatory on Language Rights at the Université de Moncton's Faculty of Law.
A great connoisseur and defender of language rights, his research focuses on this issue. He was co-editor (with Éric Forgues, Lorraine O'Donnell and Patrick Donovan) of the book 50 Years of Legislation Concerning Official Languages in Canada: Review and Prospects. Labelle Eastaugh is often in demand as a consultant because of his dedication and expertise, and he sits on boards such as the Canadian Institute for Research on Linguistic Minorities and the Association des juristes d'expression francophone du Nouveau-Brunswick.
Labelle Eastaugh will take office on July 1, 2023 for a regular five-year term.
